Don’t Miss a Family Day out at The Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing

The Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing held in the stunning surroundings of Gatcombe Park, home of HRH The Princess Royal, takes place this year from 3- 5 August 2018. With five British Championships, action packed arena attractions, a Festival Food Walk and over 100 trade stands all situated in one of the most quintessential back drops, The Festival is a must do, destination event for the Summer.

Hosting five Championship classes over the weekend with some of the best riders in the world competing, The Festival is a true showcase of the sport of eventing and makes a perfect family day out. With a thrilling line up of displays and competitions taking place in the Main Arena and the Harrington’s Arena over the weekend, there is something to keep every member of the family entertained.

Drawing in the crowds, the Main Arena is centre stage for great entertainment. This year the spectacular Devil’s Horsemen will return to perform their high energy and breathtaking show. Europe’s leading film-industry horse supplier and their family-run team of elite riders will perform daredevil tricks aboard some of the most beautiful horses seen.

The thrilling Shetland Pony Grand National is high energy and competitive with the young jockeys vying for a ticket to the prestigious final which takes place at Olympia, The London International Horse Show in December. The majestic Dressage to Music display enchants the crowds and the finale showcases the highest level of the sport of dressage – Grand Prix. The Hound Parade is always very popular with families and it may inspire the canine members to take part in the ‘have a go’ dog agility which is bound to provide great entertainment.

Young competitors will also sample the electric atmosphere of the Main Arena when they take part in the BETA Pony Club Showjumping. The hotly contested Townfields Saddlers Pony Club Mounted Games is also a firm favourite, with members of the Pony Club racing against each other in an exhilarating competition highlighting the team work and dedication that goes into such a discipline.

The Festival’s Harringtons’ Arena hosts the popular Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse Series as well as The Pony Club Inter-Branch Team Showjumping. Arena Eventing is another major attraction this year open to all armature riders. It is shaping up to be an exciting competition with riders contesting both a BE90 and BE100 course.

With so much on offer you wouldn’t want to miss a moment. Members of the Hamptons International Garden Club can take a ringside seat to enjoy all the main arena has to offer within the comfortable surroundings of the fully catered hospitality marquee. Enjoy the whole weekend by staying onsite in the Caravan Park, for as little as £40 excluding general admission tickets.

For the shoppers in the family there are over 100 selected trade stands. Every year there is an eclectic mix of fashionable country attire, jewellery and equestrian brands. If you are looking for something a little different there are unique and bespoke gifts and an amazing array of sweet and savoury treats on offer in the Rural Crafts marquee. For the foodies, there is The Festival Food Walk where you can pick up the finest produce that the area has to offer as well as different delicacies from around the world.
